This full length kimono is called a Furisode, meaning swinging (furi) sleeves (sode), which is the most formal type of kimono and traditionally worn by a young single lady. Furisode is worn when celebrating Coming of Age Day which is the year they turn 20, for formal social functions such as a tea ceremony, and wedding ceremonies of relatives.
